BIOGRAPHY
Priyanka Rani Majumdar has been working as a faculty member in the Department of Fisheries and Marine Science at NSTU since 5th October 2015. She completed her Master of Science in aquaculture and Bachelor of Science with Honours in fisheries from Noakhali Science and Technology University. She was awarded three Gold Medals, named Chancellor Gold Medal, Prime Minister Gold Medal, and Vice-Chancellor Gold Medal, for her academic excellence in B. Sc. Priyanka is currently pursuing her PhD at the School of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences, University of New South Wales Sydney, Australia. Priyanka is passionate about research in environmental microbiology, genomics, transcriptomics, phylogenetics, mycology, and particularly the microbial ‘Dark Matter’.
RESEARCH ACTIVITIES
Priyanka was involved in around seven research projects focused on the nutritional and microbial assessment of fish and fishery products and the improvement of captive breeding and spawning of many endangered fishes in Bangladesh as a principal and co-principal investigator; most of those projects were funded by MOST, UGC of Bangladesh and the Research cell, NSTU. Priyanka is currently working on Antarctic psychrophilic fungi’s genomics, transcriptomics, and phylogenetics.
