Standardization of chitosan extraction method from shrimp (Penaeus monodon) shell & prospects of chitosan production in bangladesh

Abstract:

Haberios sector is one of the promlaing sector in Bangladesh. Shrimp is the most important subsector of the fisheries division in Bangladesh. About 65272 mmt shrimp are produced in 2016-2017 session. The Study showed the quantification of shrimp body as the percentage of flesh & wastes. Ilead weight was 42.53%, where head shell waight, brain weight, & others weights is respectively 3.80, 8,49, 30.24%. After cleaning body weight was 57.47%, where flesh weight, body shell weight & others weight was respectively 31.06, 6.02, 0.39%. So, it can be estimated that about 48% considered as waste from study, meaning that about 32770.56 mt wastes are generated every year. There are 145 shrimp processing industry located in Bangladesh that export 58% shrirap of total production. Huge amount of waste from shrimp.
